What is WHOIS and how is it relevant to me?

WHOIS is a utility tool where you can inquire about the registered owners or users of a domain name or an IP address and all the data (registration date, expiration date, NS records, email id etc.) are traceable. WHOIS is not a centrally operated database, as recording and operation of data are governed by registrars and registries.
It is relevant to you as your data is visible on WHOIS if you want you can activate WHOIS Privacy to hide your information.
